A Simple Formula for Answering All IT Support Specialist Interview Questions

Answers should revolve around the four steps:

  • Clarify: Share how you would gather data, pinpoint the problem, and determine its impact.
  • Act: Explain what actions you would undertake and their justification, and in case of escalation.
  • Verify: Provide an explanation of how you will make sure that the solution has been effective.
  • Communicate: Describe how you would inform the user in question and the outcome.

For instance, “Suppose a user has entered the incorrect password of his/her Wi-Fi network, so I would verify if other users can connect and then troubleshoot the issue, ensuring that the Wi-Fi network becomes accessible for the user, and I would explain the issue to the user and document everything.”

Bear in mind that in case of experience-based questions, you provide an explanation in the past tense, while answering hypothetically formed questions, you need to describe the process as if it has already taken place.
